Since 1982, the R-2000 standard has led the way in residential energy efficiency. R-2000 homes are built to be 50% more energy efficient than the building code.
R-2000 often focuses on environmental features that reduce greenhouse gases, promote water conservation, and make better use of our natural resources.
The technical requirements of the R-2000 standard include measures for:
The requirements are intended to give the builder flexibility in the selection of construction techniques, building products, mechanical equipment, lighting, and appliances.
Certify as an R-2000 builder with ENERQUALITY.
To become a Certified R-2000 Builder, an applicant must complete the R-2000 Builder Course.
Complete the R-2000 Home Enrolment with ENERQUALITY.
Engage a licensed R-2000 evaluator to review the plans and conduct a HOT2000 energy analysis to ensure that the house meets the R-2000 energy target.
Complete a pre-drywall inspection and final inspection during the construction of the home by your R-2000 evaluator.
On completion, the R-2000 evaluator submits the compliant file to ENERQUALITY. Final submission includes HOT-2000 files for house “as built” and a copy of the quality assurance inspection forms completed by the R-2000 evaluator.
ENERQUALITY performs file review and ensures the house file is complete, meeting R-2000 requirements before submitting to Natural Resources Canada.
Natural Resources Canada accepts the compliant file & releases a R-2000 certificate to ENERQUALITY, which we then forward to you with all accompanying paperwork for your homeowner.
