On Dec 7, 2021,  the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Honourable Monte McNaughton announced nearly $3 million in support for the OHBA Job Ready Program. View the complete announcement, including words from EnerQuality President & CEO, Monica Curtis.

The OHBA Job Ready program provides an on-ramp for new entrants into the residential construction industry. The program offers participants safety training and orientation to what to expect on the job site then matches the qualified participants with starter jobs with leading construction industry employers. Employers also receive training and providing incentives to hire program participants.

Participants work as general construction labourers; in pre-trades trainee or assistant roles, such as painter’s helper, flooring installer assistant, landscaper; or in customer-facing roles such as in a design centre or in warranty work. These jobs provide valuable exposure to the industry and often propel participants to consider trades education or further training for skilled roles in the industry.

The Ontario Home Builders’ Job-Ready Program is made possible by EnerQuality Corporation, with funding provided by the Government of Ontario, Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. The program is run in partnership with Ontario Home Builders’ Association and the Career Foundation.
