CHBA Seeks Participants in Home Buyer Study

For the third year Canadian Home Builders' Association, in partnership with Avid Ratings, is conducting a nationwide buyer preference study and seeking participants.

The Canadian Home Buyer Preference National Study reveals new data in more than 50 in-depth areas of home design, building features, buying preferences and demographics, says Tim Bailey, division president of Avid Ratings Canada.

The report contains comparisons in seven customer segments, including singles & couples without children, growing families with children, second/vacation home buyers, and more.

Participants in the survey can purchase the results with a 60% discount, accessing provincial and regional results online. They will also receive some results from their own buyers on a complimentary basis.

For the 2016 report, more than 23,000 home buyers were surveyed. One of the facts revealed were that 22% of respondents were willing to compromise on the size of their homes to reduce cost, but none of respondents would compromise on quality or energy efficiency.

In 2014, nearly three-quarters of buyers (68%) said that energy efficient appliances were must-haves in their next homes. That’s the same percentage that prioritized walk-in closets.
