Toronto, Ontario – The Honourable Jim Carr, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources announced the recipients of the 2016 ENERGY STAR Market Transformation Awards for advancing energy efficiency, naming EnerQuality in two key categories Participant of the Year – Program Delivery and Sustained Excellence.

“Congratulations to EnerQuality on their ENERGY STAR Canada Awards. I thank them for their extraordinary leadership and sustained commitment to the ENERGY STAR Initiative, which helps Canadians make responsible, energy-efficient choices,” said Minister Carr.

“EnerQuality is thrilled to be recognized by the government of Canada for our work with the ENERGY STAR program and very proud of the impact it has had on Canadian housing,” says Corey McBurney, President, EnerQuality. “We are excited to continue to work closely with our industry partners and especially Canada’s builders to further accelerate innovation and build the low-carbon housing of the future.”

Participant of the Year – Program Delivery - 2016

EnerQuality’s record as a leader in designing and delivering green building programs to the residential construction industry was backed up by noteworthy accomplishments such as labelling thousands of ENERGY STAR-qualified homes in the last year, providing significant training to builders, energy advisors and program stakeholders, delivering two key market transformation programs on behalf of Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas, and leading a variety of promotional and engagement activities directed at stakeholders.

Sustained Excellence - 2016

For more than a decade, EnerQuality has been a champion in promoting and delivering the ENERGY STAR for New Homes program in Canada.  Among the many factors cited include maintaining delivery capacity, creating awareness and providing recognition to builders, ensuring quality training, offering outstanding brand promotion, participating in the advancement of energy efficiency in codes, contributing to partner programming, and building supply and demand of ENERGY STAR-qualified homes.

The ENERGY STAR program is a voluntary partnership between the Government of Canada and more than 2,000 organizations that manufacture, sell or promote ENERGY STAR-certified products and homes. The ENERGY STAR symbol and label indicate for consumers that certified products and homes meet strict technical requirements, making them among the most energy-efficient on the market.

EnerQuality designs and delivers green building programs to the homebuilding industry and is Canada's #1 certifier of high performance homes. Founded as a partnership between Ontario Home Builder’s Association and the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance in 1998, EnerQuality holds a unique place in the residential construction industry and has a mission to accelerate innovation.

EnerQuality has labelled 60,000 ENERGY STAR-qualified homes to date, making it one of the most successful market transformation programs in housing ever.
