Union Gas and EnerQuality went on the road to offer four Builder Forums in Hamilton, Ingersoll, Kingston and Huntsville last month.
More than 150 builders heard about impending changes in OBC 2017, including a deep review of critical energy changes. The sessions included round tables with building science experts and local builders, as well as engaging discussions on how to future proof your business by meeting industry and customer demands. Union Gas also revealed their builder and consumer marketing programs for 2016 which included informative handouts and printables.
Among the many takeaways delivered by Gord Cooke and EnerQuality's Kirk Johnson and others was great news for builders: If you build and label to current ENERGY STAR specifications, you are already meeting the energy requirements of the 2017 Ontario Building Code, as outlined in the Draft Standard.
Speakers included Gord Cooke, President of Building Knowledge Canada, Andrew Oding, Senior Building Science Associate with Building Knowledge Canada, and EnerQuality’s own Program Director, Kirk Johnson. Attendees also heard from Tex McLeod of McLeod Associates, one of North America’s leading presenters on energy, housing and indoor air quality, Al Schmidt, partner in A&J Energy Consultants Inc. with more than 20 years in the business and Diane Murray, Strategic Account Manager for Union Gas.
